• Harrisonburg: A little over an hour drive but good sized city with cafes and restaurants and shopping. Check out Bella Luna Wood-Fired Pizza; Lola's Deli; Aristocat Cafe + Tea House; and Kline's Dairy Bar.

• Warm Springs Pools operated by the Omni Resort. Thomas Jefferson was a frequent visitor way back when! Reservations required in advance. Grab a bite to eat nearby at the Tavern at the Inn at Warm Springs Inn or the Milk House Market or Waterwheel Restaurant.
